Average Snowfall By Area
Thursday, October 9th, 2008I have been wondering what kind of snow falls around here. I mean, I know snow falls, but is there a lot of it? Do I need to get a snow blower?
When we were looking at houses, we asked the realtor this question. She replied, “Oh yes, it certainly snows around here.” It was kind of humorous, because I really don’t think it snows here as much as it did back in NY. We seemed to have lived in some sort of zone where we got twice as much snow as anywhere else around.
I was just poking around some websites and I came across this page, “Snowfall – Average Total In Inches.” This site pretty much sums up what I was looking for. I wanted to compare a nearby city in NY with a nearby city in CT. I didn’t really have anything that came close in NY though. We probably were comparable to Albany…who knows. Comparing to Hartford works well though.
It seems as though Albany gets an annual snowfall of 63.9 inches and Hartford gets 49. I suppose that’s an improvement…slightly. I would’ve preferred something like 8 inches of snow.
