Firefox Vs. Chrome Vs. Internet Explorer

I am not sure why I am still using Firefox. I was turned on to it a few years ago, when I thought Internet Explorer was too slow. It was, compared to Firefox. It wasn’t because of lack of features, because I’m not a features guy. It was simply because Firefox appeared to “glide” around, instead of being “choppy.” I guess they differ in how they load each page.
For the most part, I am very happy with Firefox. It does everything I want it to do (load web pages), but I do have two pretty major compaints:
- Firefox crashes when I close it. I would say this happens 9 times out of 10. I did a reinstall, but that didn’t help. I have also been waiting for this problem to cure itself with each upgrade, but it never does.
- Firefox crashes when I download more than two files. I can download one, no problem. I can download two, no problem. When I try to download three, every one of my Firefox windows disappears.
I have the Firefox crash report set to “on,” but I don’t think anyone over there is reading these things. Who knows, maybe they are. There are many things I am about to read over here. Maybe they will offer some insight on what’s going on.
I may consider giving Chrome a spin, but wanted to get some opinions on it first. If you are using Google Chrome, what do you think of it? Is it worth the download? Is it stable? Do you like Chrome better than Firefox and IE?

I favor Firefox over all the others. The crashing problem is odd, mine does not crash when I close it or download stuff. I tried Chrome, it works well enough and it does what I want it to (loads web pages). I don’t like the bookmarks organization and I wish I could change that, otherwise it runs well.

I like Firefox too, I just wish it would work correctly. I was reading a bit and discovered that it might now be Firefox’s problem, it may be an extension. The only think I have running though is Google Toolbar. Strange, because that is probably the world’s most used extension.

We use Firefox over here. I have noticed that it crashes when I have lots going on at once. But my version of “lots” probably isn’t that much. Maybe I have IPhoto, Email and 2 Tabs open. Maybe ITunes, too…
So – that’s as much as I can help you. I will add, though, that the crashing has never had any ill effect other than annoying me.
Are you on a PC or a Mac?
We’re a Mac House now.

I think Firefox is much more expandable than IE, therefore it is prone to more problems that aren’t the fault of its developers. It is annoying though.
I am on a PC. I haven’t found a reason to change over to a Mac yet. I am so behind the curve with these things. Although, I didn’t know how good Blackberrys were until I got rid of the Treo.

I run Firefox religiously, and the only time it ever crashes is after a very long session, i.e. 4 days. I have put it under very extreme pressure and 99% of the time it performs admirably. No matter the size or amount of downloads, it keeps going. I have nearly thirty extension that I also use. I’m on a p.c. and have to use it every know and then to update or test a HTML document that I may write, and i always cringe at how slow it is, it is very choppy and lags a lot. This is IE 8 mind you. And heaven forbid I ever have to download something through IE, 9 times out of 10, it will drop the download or present me with a corrupted file. Windows updates seem to be the only thing that it can download successfully. I have used Chrome before, and while I was impressed with its speed and performance, it seemed very dumbed down compared to my Firefox install, of course I have Firefox configured exactly to my liking, so that could have been the problem there. Opera is a very nice browser, and would definitely be my second choice, closely followed by Chrome and IE in a very distant forth.
