New Cuisinart Ice Cream Maker

Well, Saturday came and went. I don’t feel any older, I don’t look any older, but I am older.

Over the past few years, small things have changed. I have noticed my back aching a little more than it did when I was a kid. Also, the recovery time for just about everything takes longer now. Oh well, I just work harder and harder to fight the battle.

To celebrate Saturday, Laura bought me a new Cuisinart Ice Maker. She got me a nice ice from Williams-Sonoma too. She also got me a gift card for the Red Lion Inn, in Stockbridge, MA and another one for the Spring House Hotel out on Block Island. I thought that was very nice. Have I ever told you that I want to live on ? Talk about relaxation.

So, back to the ice maker. I guess she didn’t hear me when I told her I wanted to keep fit and trim for the rest of my life. She knows I have an ice weakness. Don’t send me to the alone…you know what I’ll come back with. Being the age I am and not having a belly is a miracle. I would like to keep it that way.

Well that got thrown out the door. I went out last night and got the ingredients for my first batch of homemade ice . I wanted to make the black recipe, but black are out of season. Instead, I made the strawberry ice .

It was pretty easy. I just followed the recipe and did what I had to do with the ingredients. Unlike the , this uses actual fresh ingredients. There are no pre-made mixures. This machine allows you to get as creative as you want.

This is the ice after mixing it in the ice machine and before putting it in the freezer. I have to stick it there for a few hours and then I can enjoy my first batch of homemade ice .

I vow not to get fat.

Cuisinart Doesn’t stand behind their products–and they don’t seem to mind. The third time I used my shiney new Smart Power Duet Blender/Food Processor the slicing blade broke into pieces and ruined about 2 pounds of freshly cooked roast beef– AND my plans for dinner. I called customer care and they had NO remorse for this problem. They said I could buy a new blade AND they would ship it for free–to arrive in 10 working days. Even if wanted to pay for shipping faster, they said it wasn’t possible. If I wanted to speak to a supervisor they would call me back within 72 business hours! They doubted that I could find a replacement blade in New York City at any retailer (where you can buy anything on earth). Before hanging up, the nonplused phone dude actually asked me if there was anything else he could help me with and chuckled! Nice.
