When we first moved here, I really didn’t give the on the property too much thought. I just said to myself that I was going to plant some there. At the time, there were some “unbloomed” waiting for leaves. Some of them were those ever growing pricker .

When I was a kid, we had this huge pricker in between our property and the neighbor’s. It was large and really needed to be taken care of because it was taking up so much room. I can’t really ever remember any growing on that pricker . Oh, how times have changed.

These roses look a lot like the ones that grew down the bank of my grandmother’s yard. We never knew what they were called and just call them Grannie’s Roses. The house has since been torn down and the bank lowered, but I have noticed that some of the roses have survived and are even growing across the road. They are small roses and have a wonderful fragrance. I have always wondered what their name was and how they came to grow there.
